I got it finished!

My first UFO for 2014 is finally completed. This is one that should have been done in 2013, but since it is now quilted, I am counting it as my January entry at 52 quilts. Marti always says that we can make our own rules, and I consider this a finished UFO for 2014 :-)

Now to see what is chosen for February!

OWH Cards again

I have taken some time during our snow days this week to work on cards for Operation Write Home. One challenge was to make a card using stripes. As it so happens, I just got a Cricut cartridge with Winnie the Pooh and friends, including Tigger! A tiger has stripes, right?

There was also a request for generic cards for children. I hope these will fit as "love you" cards, since it is too late to submit Valentine's Day cards.

Back from San Antonio, Texas!

I finally feel like the holidays are over - after Thanksgiving and Christmas I was busy preparing for a trip to San Antonio where I got to work for American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture at the annual convention.

I was very fortunate to meet Laurie Krebs, author of The Beeman, Book of the Year for Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. Bill Krebs, her husband, is the bee man and he joined her on the trip. It was great to work with both of them at the book signings in San Antonio, as they are wonderful people.

It was simply an amazing experience for us and I am very glad we were able to do this. To learn more about The Beeman, other accurate ag books, and the educator guides like the one I wrote, please check out the website below:

Now I may be able to get back to my sewing machine!!

A New Challenge for 2014

I plan to continue the challenge over at 52 Quilts to complete a UFO quilt each month again. I was able to take care of 10 items last year, so I am willing to try in 2014.  More about the quilting in the next post.

THEN, I found another challenge at the Jingle Belles website. Here they challenge people to make a Christmas card each week, and provide sketches or ideas to follow. The idea is that we should have 50 or so cards ready for Christmas mailing!

Here is my first card, although it was done for the second challenge!

I am looking forward to making a variety of cards that can be used for Christmas or just winter notes.
